Winter Bathing

Our recommendations for winter swimmers

The essence of winter swimming is to experience the cold thrill all the way into your body. Nevertheless, we recommend a number of products that can contribute to the experience - both before, during and after the dip. Here are our top three recommendations:

Neoprene Socks/Boots. A pair of lightweight socks or a boot with a sole can be absolutely essential. Because even though the cold water feels good on the body, the surface can often be freezing cold. Insulation in the form of neoprene keeps the warmth around the feet and ensures that you get safely back to shore. We recommend a 2.5mm sock or a 5mm boot with a sole and zipper.

Neoprene Gloves. Just like on the feet, a layer of neoprene around the hands can ensure that you maintain dexterity and can still use your fingers after the swim. The gloves also make it comfortable to hold onto the cold railing or ladder. We recommend gloves at 2.5-3mm. If you swim for longer periods of time, you can look for a 5mm glove.

Poncho / Bathrobe. The cold wind before and after the swim can sometimes take the courage away from any winter swimmer. With a poncho that can easily be taken on and off, warmth is maintained all the way to the dip and immediately after. With the right poncho, you can even change clothes without being completely exposed. We recommend the following poncho.

In addition, there are many other products. If you are unsure about what you need, our experts can always be contacted at +45 66130049.

Winter swimming

Do you need equipment for winter swimming? Winter swimming is a steadily growing activity in Scandinavia. When the bathing water reaches a temperature of 5-10 degrees, the swim is categorised as winter swimming. The cold thrill is beneficial for both mood and health, and with the right equipment, it becomes even more fun.

In this winter swimmer category, we have gathered equipment and clothing that may be relevant for the winter swimmer. If you are still in doubt, you can find inspiration at the bottom of this page. You are also very welcome to contact our water-loving experts on the phone +45 6613 0049.

Our recommendations for the winter swimmer

The essence of winter swimming is to experience the cold thrill, right into the body. Still, we recommend a range of products that can enhance the experience - both before, during, and after the dip. Here are our top three recommendations:

  1. Neoprene Socks / Boots. A pair of lightweight socks, or a boot with a sole, can be absolutely essential. Even though the cold water feels nice on the body, the surface underneath can often be icy cold. Insulation in the form of neoprene keeps the heat around your feet and ensures that you return safely to land. We recommend a 2.5mm sock, or a 5mm boot with a sole and zipper.
  2. Neoprene Gloves. Just like on the feet, a layer of neoprene on the hands ensures that you maintain dexterity and continue to use your fingers after swimming. The gloves also make it comfortable to hold onto the cold railing or ladder. We recommend 2.5-3mm gloves. If you swim for extended periods, you might want to consider a 5mm glove.
  3. Poncho / Robe. The cold wind before and after swimming can sometimes discourage any winter swimmer. With a poncho that can easily be put on and taken off, the warmth is maintained all the way up to the dip, and immediately afterwards. With the right poncho, you can even change clothes without standing completely bare. We recommend the following poncho.

In addition, there are many other products. If you are unsure about what you need, our experts can always be contacted at +45 66130049.

Which products should I choose for winter swimming?

It can be difficult to choose from the many different products offered for winter swimming. On a daily basis, we often meet customers who are unsure about which neoprene socks are best, how thick they should be, whether neoprene boots are better than neoprene socks, and which neoprene gloves are best suited for winter swimming. In the following video, we try to describe the differences between the various products.

In addition, the cold water can also stimulate the production of white blood cells, which help strengthen your immune system.

But winter swimming can also have a positive impact on your mental well-being. Some people experience a sense of joy and well-being after being in the cold water, and it can also help reduce stress and anxiety.
