Garmin MK3 Series

Discover a world of difference - above and below the water - with the Garmin Descent MK3 and MK3i series.

A truly fantastic dive computer, intelligent smartwatch, multifunctional watch for the demanding athlete, and maintaining the stylish look of an everyday watch. Garmin Descent MK3 and MK3i take over from the incredibly popular predecessor MK2.

Whether you dive with or without a tank, in saltwater or freshwater, whether you breathe nitrox, trimix, or hold your breath, the Descent MK3 and MK3i are the intuitive and complete dive computers you've been waiting for.

Garmin MK3i

The Garmin MK3 series is crafted in a Fiber-Reinforced Polymer watch case with a titanium bezel and comes with a gray silicone QuickFit 20 watch strap that can be easily replaced with other colors and materials using Garmin's QuickFit design. The surface is made of a tough and curved sapphire crystal glass. Similarly, the MK3 series comes with an AMOLED touchscreen.

In comparison, the new MK3i uses the same proven Bühlmann ZHL-16c algorithm to ensure that you stay within your diving limits. Selectable sound and vibration alarms will help you maintain control underwater. Above water, MK3i combines the best features from the renowned fēnix® 5X multisport watch, allowing you to benefit from the watch whether you're running, cycling, hiking, playing curling, parachuting, and more.

With its elegant exterior, interchangeable straps, and the ability to change and design your own watch faces, you can seamlessly integrate the watch into your daily life and needs.

Communication and Air Integration with SUBWAVE Technology

By purchasing Garmin's new T2 transceiver (not included), you can have your tank pressure displayed directly on the screen during your dive with the new MK3i. You also get information on remaining bottom time based on your air consumption and SAC rate (average air consumption). It's possible to connect up to 8 transceivers to the same watch, where the previous T1 transmitter had 5, making it easy to keep an eye on all your tanks, your students' air if you teach diving, or your buddy's air consumption.

Improved SubWave Sonar technology also allows the exchange of preset diver-to-diver messages, up to 30 meters away, as well as monitoring tank pressure, depth, and distance for up to 8 divers within a range of 10 meters when paired with the Descent T2 transceiver for group diving.

(Diver-to-diver messages and distance measurement coming soon in a software update)

Advanced Multisport Features

In addition to the complete set of dive computer features, the Descent MK3i also offers a complete range of tools for sports/training, fitness, and outdoor navigation, as known from Garmin's popular fēnix series of advanced multisport watches. You can draw on a wide range of physiological parameters, cycling dynamics, fitness features, and more – to monitor your training data, measure your progress, and avoid injuries. There are specific preloaded activity profiles for swimming, running, cycling, hiking, skiing, rowing, paddleboarding, and more. Various features for timing, lap counting, and map tracking are easily accessible. And for extra motivation, you can also download advanced workouts and training plans to your device from Garmin Connect.

Charging and Battery Life

Between charges, you can expect up to 30 hours of battery life in dive mode (15 hours when paired with the T2 transceiver), up to 10 days in smartwatch mode, and up to 28 hours in GPS mode (depending on settings). With QuickFit™ straps, you can customize your wrist's style for any daily activity or special occasion – without using tools. And for diving, longer QuickFit straps are included for use over thick wetsuits or drysuits.

You can customize the watch face with free watch faces, apps, and data fields from Garmin's Connect IQ™ Store. For your safety, Connect IQ features are not available during diving to ensure all dive functions work as intended. Both Descent MK3 models are also Wi-Fi® enabled, allowing them to connect to your wireless network and automatically transfer activities for sharing on Garmin Connect.

Multiple Navigation Sensors

In addition to highly sensitive GPS and GLONASS satellite tracking for map-based navigation over water, the Descent MK3i also features a complete range of ABC sensor functions (altimeter, barometer, and compass). Additionally, the readable compass screen is available for use underwater. The built-in altimeter provides altitude data.

Underwater, you can easily access the compass, even with thick gloves, using the convenient buttons on the side of the watch.

Wrist-Based Heart Rate Monitoring

Descent MK3i uses Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart rate technology for optical scanning of your pulse (when worn in contact with the skin, not over a wetsuit or drysuit). The dive computer records your exhaustion levels and automatically uploads your heart rate data to your Garmin Connect account and Dive App for review and analysis after the dive. If you want heart rate monitoring even when the watch is worn outside a suit, the watch can be paired with Garmin's separate heart rate monitor (HRM Tri), which can be worn under the suit. The watch, if worn directly on the skin, can also read heart rate data during your dive.

Smart Connection Between Smartwatch and Smartphone

When paired with a compatible smartphone, Descent MK3i makes it easy to receive text messages, emails, and smart notifications directly on the watch face. It also provides access to automatic transfers with Garmin Connect, voice messages, music control (Garmin Music), etc. When above water, family and friends can follow your position and adventure online in real-time using the LiveTrack feature. You can also use GroupTrack and your map to keep an eye on the companions you share activities with while on the go.

As a new feature, Garmin Pay was added to MK2i, allowing you to pay with the watch in stores by activating the payment function and holding the watch down to the card reader. This means you never have to pull out your wallet or phone to pay, and it comes with the new MK3i as well.

Garmin Launches New Dive App

Garmin's newly developed Dive App allows you to easily read, prepare, and share your dives. The app can be used as an electronic logbook, and your dive is automatically transferred when the watch connects to your smartphone on land. The app's new planning feature also allows you to plan your next dive.

As the app serves as a sharing platform, you can also find inspiration for your next dive sites and interact with your diving buddies' latest updates and dives.
