Explore both worlds - Above and below the water - with the Garmin Descent MK2 series. A thoroughbred diving computer, an intelligent Smartwatch, and a stylish everyday watch. The Garmin Descent MK2 and MK2i take over from the extremely popular predecessor, the MK1.
Garmin launch the most modern diving computer on the market to this date. A fully integrated diving computer with color screen, built-in compass, GPS, heart rate monitor, six different underwater modes and integrated air monitoring (MK2i only). In addition, you will get a Smartwatch and sports watch that follows you in all your sports on land. Let you play music with Garmin Music, read, and respond to calls from your phone, and pay contactless in stores with Garmin Pay.
Whether you are diving with or without a bottle, in salt water or fresh water, whether you are breathing nitrox, trimix or holding your breath, the Descent MK2 and MK2i are the intuitive and complete diving computer you have been waiting for.
Garmin MK2
The Garmin MK2 is made from a Fiber-reinforced Polymer case with a steel wreath and comes with a silicone QuickFit 26 watch strap that can be easily replaced with other colors and materials using Garmin's QuickFit design. The surface is produced in a hardened and curved Sapphire Crystal glass that is harder and more scratch resistant than the predecessor MK1. Likewise, the MK2 series comes with a 36% larger screen than the previous version.
By comparison, the new MK2 uses the same proven Bühlmann ZHL-16c algorithm to keep you within your diving limits. Likewise, the selectable sound and vibration alarms will help you to keep your overview under water. On land the MK2 brings together the best features of the recognized fēnix® 5X multisport watch, so you always can enjoy the advantage of the watch, whether you're running, cycling, hiking, playing curling, jumping in parachutes etc.
With the elegant exterior, the interchangeable straps and the ability to change and design your own watch faces, you always will be able to fit the watch into your everyday life at any time.
Several navigation sensors
In addition to the high-sensitivity GPS and GLONASS satellite tracking for map-based navigation on land, the Descent Mk2 also has a full range of ABC sensor functions (altimeter, barometer, and compass). In addition, the easy-to-read compass screen is available for underwater use. The built-in altimeter provides elevation data, while the slope-compensated 3-axis electronic compass stays the course for you — whether you are moving or not.
Under the water, you easily access the compass, even with thick gloves, using the practical "pressure for compass" function. All you must do is double tap the screen, instead of using the function keys, then the compass appears.
Wrist-based heart rate measurement
The Descent MK2 uses Garmin Elevate wrist-based heart rate technology to optically scan your heart rate (when worn in contact with the skin, not on top of a wetsuit or dry suit). The dive computer records your fatigue levels and automatically uploads your heart rate data to your Garmin Connect account for review and analysis after the dive. If you want heart rate monitoring even if the watch is on the outside of a suit, the watch can be connected to Garmin's separate heart rate monitor (HRM Tri), which can be worn under the suit. The watch, if worn directly on the skin, also read heart rate data during your dive.
Smart connectivity between smartwatch and smartphone
When the Descent MK2 is paired with a compatible smartphone, it makes it easy to receive text messages, emails, and smart notifications directly on the watch face. It also gives you access to automatic downloads with Garmin Connect, audio messages, music management (Garmin Music) etc. Once you are on land, family and friends can follow your location and adventure online in real time using the LiveTrack feature. You can also use GroupTrack and your map to keep an eye on the friends you share activities with while you are on the go.
As something new, the MK2 comes with Garmin Pay, which means you can pay with the watch in stores by activating the payment process and keeping the watch down to the card reader. Thus, you never have to have a wallet or phone to pay.
Garmin Launches New Dive App
Garmin's newly developed Dive App lets you easily read, prepare, and share your dives. The app can be used as an electronic logbook, and your dive is automatically transferred when the watch connects to your smartphone on land. The app's new scheduling feature also lets you plan your next dive.
Because the app serves as a sharing platform, you can also seek inspiration for your next dive sites and interact with your dive buddies’ latest updates and dives.
Advanced multisport watch features
In addition to the complete set of diving computer features, the Descent MK2 also has a full range of sports/training, fitness, and outdoor navigation tools, as known from Garmin's popular fēnix range of advanced multisport watches. You can draw on a wide range of physiological parameters, cycling dynamics, fitness features and more – to monitor your workout data, measure your progress and avoid injuries. There are special preloaded activity profiles for swimming, running, cycling, hiking, skiing, rowing, paddle boarding and more. Various timekeeping, lap counter and map tracking features are easily accessible. And for added motivation, you can also download advanced workouts and training plans to your device from Garmin Connect.
Charge it, transform it
Between charges you can expect up to 80 hours of battery life in dive mode, up to 50 days in watch mode, up to 16 days in smartwatch mode and up to 48 hours in GPS mode (depending on settings). With QuickFit™ straps, you can customize your style on your wrist for any daily activity or special occasion – without the use of tools. And for diving, longer QuickFit straps are included for use over thick wetsuits or dry suits.
You can customize your watch's display with free watch faces, apps, and data fields from Garmin's Connect IQ™ Store. For your safety, Connect IQ features are not available during diving to ensure that all diving functions work as intended. Both Descent MK2 models are also Wi-Fi® enabled, so they can both connect to your wireless network and automatically transfer sharing activities on Garmin Connect.
