What does a snorkel set consist of?
A snorkel set usually consists of three parts: diving mask, snorkel and flippers.
The diving mask is the most important part of the snorkel set. It keeps the salt water away from your eyes and ensures that you have a good view when you snorkel. Therefore, it is important that it is of the highest quality. It should give you a 180 degree view, be comfortable to wear and close tightly - and it should dew as little as possible.
The snorkel is of course also an important part of the snorkel set. It allows you to breathe when you have your head under water, and that is what gives you time to experience the world below sea level.
Last but not least, most snorkel kits include flippers. Flippers are not a necessity for snorkeling. However, they have a lot of benefits that make them really good to have with. Flippers give you far better propulsion and they allow you to move smoothly through the water. Therefore, you can keep swimming much longer, and that way you get the most out of the experience.

Tip: To avoid misted lenses
When you buy a new snorkel set, the mask is applied with silicone film to keep the lenses clear during transport. However, the film may cause the lenses to mist up when using the mask. You can remove the silicone by gently rubbing the toothpaste on the lens and then putting the diving mask in soapy water.
When using the mask, you can often prevent misted lenses by spitting in the mask, rubbing it all over the lens and then rinsing the mask with water.
How to maintain your snorkel set
Snorkeling gear is not difficult to maintain: all it requires is actually water. Once you have used your snorkel set, you should rinse both the diving mask, snorkel and flippers in clean, fresh water. Avoid using soap, as the lens of the diving mask in particular does not benefit from it.
We recommend that you store the snorkel set in a net or a travel bag. It makes sure to keep the equipment free of dust and dirt and you always have assembly on the whole set. That way, you can enjoy your snorkeling gear for many years to come.
